English for Mission

Equipping Missionaries. Transforming Lives.

A 10-month, in-person English and missionary training program combining practical English instruction, Bible-based learning, spiritual growth, and hands-on service to prepare individuals for more effective missionary work.

Next Program Begins: January 11, 2027

Now available both in-person and online.

The World Is Waiting for Missionaries Who Can Speak Their Language

Throughout history, God has used men and women willing to cross cultural and linguistic barriers to share the gospel. Following the example of the apostle Paul, who became “all things to all men” so that he might win some, many missionaries have learned new languages and adapted to different cultures to reach people for Christ.

Today, English connects people across nations and cultures. It opens doors to missionary training, international ministry, collaboration with other believers, and educational resources. Yet for many who desire to serve God, limited English proficiency can be a barrier.

To help bridge this gap, Streams of Light Training Institute developed English for Mission, a residential program that combines English instruction, Bible-based learning, missionary training, and Christian community life to equip individuals for more effective service.

Who Is This Program For?

Whether you hope to serve in an English-speaking mission field, pursue further training, collaborate with international ministries, or access educational resources in English, this program may be the right place for you.

We welcome applications from mission-minded individuals who are eager to learn, willing to serve, and ready to grow.

Prayerfully consider whether God may be leading you to take this next step.

On-Campus Program Structure

A Journey in English for Mission
The program spans 4.5 months and includes four core components:

Core Program Components

Our 10-month residential program is divided into two five-month semesters and brings together four essential components of missionary preparation.

1. Spiritual Life

Through daily worship, Bible study, prayer, and Christian fellowship, students are encouraged to deepen their relationship with God and strengthen their spiritual foundation.

Living and learning alongside other mission-minded individuals provides opportunities for encouragement, friendship, and growth in faith and commitment to God's service.

2. Classroom Instruction

Students receive practical English instruction designed to develop communication skills for everyday life and missionary service.

Our unique Bible-based curriculum is organized around the biblical sanctuary. Each unit follows a stage of the sanctuary journey, helping students explore God's plan of redemption while developing their English skills.

Classes serve beginner to pre-intermediate learners and are organized according to participants' proficiency and enrollment.

3. Practical Training and Character Development

Through supervised hands-on activities, students develop practical skills and qualities such as responsibility, teamwork, diligence, patience, perseverance, and a spirit of service.

Working alongside others also provides opportunities to practice English in real-life situations while developing habits and attitudes valuable for everyday life and missionary work.

4. Outreach and Missionary Experience

Regular outreach activities give students opportunities to practice what they learn, connect with people in the community, and share God's love through practical service and personal ministry.

These experiences may include community service, prayer ministry, literature distribution, Bible studies, health outreach, and participation in evangelistic initiatives.

Through these activities, students gain experience serving others while continuing to develop their English communication skills.
