The World Is Waiting for Missionaries Who Can Speak Their Language

Throughout history, God has used men and women who were willing to cross cultural and linguistic barriers to share His love with the world. Following the example of the apostle Paul, who became "all things to all men" so that he might win some, countless believers have learned new languages and adapted to new cultures in order to reach hearts for Christ.

Today, English serves as a common language that connects people across nations and cultures. Yet many mission-minded believers feel called to serve but lack the English skills needed to access training opportunities, engage in cross-cultural ministry, and benefit from the vast range of educational resources that are available primarily in English.

The Streams of Light Training Institute's English for Mission Program was created to bridge that gap.

English for Mission is a mission-focused, full-immersion English program designed to equip mission-minded individuals with the language skills they need to serve God more effectively.

Who Is This Program For?

Whether your goal is to:

  • Learn or improve English to serve in an English-speaking mission field,
  • Prepare for future training opportunities,
  • Connect and collaborate with other ministries,
  • Access educational resources available in English, or simply
  • Grow both spiritually and linguistically,

English for Mission may be the right place for you.

Prayerfully consider whether God may be leading you to take this next step. If He places this opportunity on your heart, we invite you to apply.

On-Campus Program Structure

A Journey in English for Mission
The program spans 4.5 months and includes four core components:

Core Program Components

  • Spiritual life

The English for Mission program provides an environment where students can develop a close and personal relationship with God. Through regular devotional times, prayer meetings, and revival-focused events, students are encouraged to build a steady and committed spiritual life that will support them in ministry. The program also emphasizes daily reliance on the Holy Spirit, active participation in learning and growth activities. These experiences help students develop strong English skills and prepare them for confident communication and service in their future ministry.

  • Classroom instruction

Students receive daily English instruction designed to help them communicate effectively in everyday life and ministry settings. Lessons are built around mission-focused and spiritually enriching themes, allowing them to develop practical language skills while exploring subjects that support their calling to serve.

Each lesson strengthens speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar, and vocabulary through interactive discussions, presentations, collaborative activities, role-plays, and real-life scenarios. Weekly homework and assessments reinforce learning and help students track their progress, while regular field activities provide opportunities to apply new language skills in real-world settings.

  • Practical education or industry assignments

The English for Mission program gives students opportunities to learn practical skills by participating in a variety of hands-on activities. Students can be involved in caring for the campus, helping with gardening and farming, supporting simple construction projects, and assisting with other daily needs of the school community. These experiences help students develop responsibility, teamwork, flexibility, and a strong attitude of service while growing in their faith. The practical abilities they learn can be used in mission service, church ministry, and everyday life, helping students become confident and prepared to serve wherever God may lead them.

  • Outreach experience

Mission is at the heart of the English for Mission program. Students regularly participate in outreach activities that provide opportunities to practice English while serving others.

These experiences may include community service, prayer ministry, Bible studies, literature distribution, health outreach, and participation in campus events such as camp meetings, evangelistic series, and other ministry initiatives.

As a highlight of the program, students conclude the semester by joining a mission trip organized by Streams of Light International Ministry, where they put their training into practice in a real mission setting.

Together, these opportunities help students develop communication skills, build confidence, and, above all, experience firsthand the joy of sharing God's love with others.
